The Residential Care Strike Team provides limited staffing assistance for residential care facilities experiencing staff shortages as a direct result of COVID-19. Facilities may request staffing assistance by submitting a Staff Request Intake Form.
State-funded staffing assistance is only available to support COVID-19 related staffing shortages and currently limited to facilities:
- Experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.
- Operating in crisis or contingency staffing standards of care.
- At risk of transporting residents to another facility within 48-72 hours.
Available staffing resources consist of CNAs, LPNs, and RNs. The Colorado National Guard is no longer available to provide QMAP and non-medical staffing support. Supplemental staff will be deployed to eligible facilities to help bridge short-term staffing gaps. Deployments are generally for two weeks, but facilities may request an extension if needed.
While we continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in residential care facilities, state-funded staffing assistance is currently scheduled to phase out by August 1, 2022. EMResource provides key indicators, including the number of anticipated staff shortages and staffing levels, that will be monitored and used to assess the level of support needed in facilities and future planning. It is important that facilities continue to update EMResource twice a month.
