State health department sends testing resources to Montrose today

DENVER, March 23, 2020: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is sending testing resources to Montrose today in partnership with Montrose County and the Colorado National Guard. The National Guard medical team will staff a drive-through testing site. This testing site will serve about 100 high-risk patients who have been pre-selected by area health care providers as priority for being tested. The site will not accept walk-up or drive-up patients. 

Since March 11, the Colorado National Guard Mobile Testing Unit and CDPHE have completed tests on more than 800 people in Denver, Telluride, Pueblo, and Salida. 

CDPHE is also strongly advising the public: If you have symptoms (fever, cough, and shortness of breath or even mild, early symptoms that you think may be COVID-19), don’t wait for a test to self-isolate. Call your health care provider only if your illness becomes more severe, especially if you are experiencing shortness of breath. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 and tell the dispatcher your symptoms. People who are not at high risk of severe illness may not need to be evaluated in person or tested for COVID-19. Not everyone with symptoms will be tested right away. 

If you have mild symptoms, suspect you were exposed, and are either unable to get tested or waiting on test results:

  • Please stay home and isolate yourself until:
    • You have had no fever for at least 72 hours (without the use of medicine) AND
    • Other symptoms (cough, shortness of breath) have improved AND
    • At least 7 days have passed since your symptoms first appeared.
  • Anyone in your household you have had close contact with (within six feet for approximately 10 minutes) should self-quarantine for 14 days, even if you haven’t been tested for COVID-19.
  • If you have a medical emergency, call 911. If you have severe respiratory symptoms, especially shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, tell the 911 dispatcher about your symptoms. Do not wait for a COVID-19 test to call 911.

El Departamento de Salud envía recursos de pruebas de COVID-19 a Montrose

DENVER, marzo 23, 2020: El Departamento de Salud y Medio Ambiente de Colorado (CDPHE) envía recursos de pruebas de COVID-19 a Montrose el día de hoy en conjunto con el Condado Montrose y la Guardia Nacional.   El equipo médico de la Guardia Nacional estará a cargo del servicio de pruebas de autoservicio. El sitio de pruebas dará servicio a 100 personas que han sido preseleccionadas por proveedores de salud médica como prioridad para ser examinados.  El lugar no atenderá a personas fuera de esta lista de preseleccionados.

Desde marzo 11, la unidad de pruebas móviles de la Guardia Nacional y el CDPHE han hecho pruebas de COVID-19 a 673 personas en Denver, Telluride, Pueblo y Salida. 

 CDPHE recomienda fuertemente al público:  Si tiene síntomas (fiebre, tos y dificultad para respirar o síntomas leves que podrían ser del COVID-19) no espere a una prueba para aislarse.  Llame a su proveedor de salud solamente si su enfermedad es más severa, especialmente si tiene dificultad para respirar.  Si tiene una emergencia médica, llame al 911 y dígale al operador sus síntomas. Las personas que no están en alto riesgo de una enfermedad grave, podrían no necesitar ser evaluados en persona o hacerse la prueba del COVID-19.  No a todos lo que tienen los síntomas, se les harán las pruebas de inmediato. 

Si tiene síntomas leves, sospecha que ha sido expuesto, no ha podido hacerse la prueba o no puede esperar por los resultados:

  • Quédese en casa y aíslese hasta que:
    • No ha tenido fiebre por los menos en 72 horas (sin el uso de medicamento) Y
    • Otros síntomas (tos, dificultad ) han mejorado Y
    • Por lo menos 7 días han pasado desde que sus síntomas iniciaron.
  • Cualquiera en su casa que haya tenido contacto con usted (6 pies aproximadamente por 10 minutos), debe  ponerse en auto-cuarentena por 14 días, aun cuando no haya tenido la prueba del COVID-19.  
  • Si tiene una emergencia, llame al 911. Si tiene síntomas respiratorios severos, especialmente dificultad para respirar, dígale al operador del 911 sobre sus síntomas.  No espere a hacerse la prueba del COVID-19 para llamar al 911.
