State health department issues public health order closing Colorado bars, restaurants, gyms, theaters, and casinos-- still allowing takeout and delivery

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued a public health order to close bars, restaurants, gyms, theaters, and casinos to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, effective at 8:00 a.m. on March 17 for the duration of 30 days. The public health order will help the state slow and limit the spread of COVID-19 in Colorado communities.

DENVER, March 16, 2020: The state of Colorado is amplifying support for communities across the state and increasing testing capabilities in mountain communities. Today Colorado welcomed 50 nurses dedicated to help with the state’s COVID-19 response.

 

CDPHE recommends that Colorado follow CDC guidance to cancel or postpone in-person events of 50 people or more

To best protect public health, the Colorado Department of Health and Environment is recommending that Coloradans follow the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance released today. The guidance states that the CDC “recommends that for the next eight weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.”

Public health alert for people who visited Colorado Springs Bridge Center from late February to early March and may have been exposed to COVID-19

El Paso County Public Health (EPCPH) has learned that the woman who died from COVID-19 on March 13 attended bridge games at Colorado Springs Bridge Center from Feb. 27 through March 3. EPCPH and the Colorado Department of Public Health (CDPHE) are releasing this information in the interest of public health. EPCPH will have media availability at 3 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management, 3755 Mark Dabling Blvd.

Drive-up testing site will close for the day because of high volume. People who need COVID-19 tests can obtain them through private providers

Due to high-volume, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has closed the drive-up testing site at the Denver Coliseum for the rest of the day today, Saturday, March 14. The line was cut off at 200 cars today.
